I know this may sound stupid but I need to know anyway, so here it goes are there any difference between ordinary usb cabels and usb 2.0 cabels or is that just a way to get people to buy new cabels ?

I wondered the same thing as far as I know they are the same, but hopfully someone else knows for sure.

The connectors are the same, and they are connected the same way.
High speed (480 Mb/s) and full speed (12 Mb/s) cables consists of a signaling twisted pair, VBUS, GND, and an overall shield.
Low speed (1,5 Mb/s) recommends, but does not require the use of a cable with twisted signaling conductors.
So if you use a cable from a low speed USB 1.1 device you may have problems running high speed across it. But since most USB 1.1 devices are cabable of running full speed, the cable is the shielded type and should therefore also be capable of running High speed USB 2.0
