I'm building my wife a new system and I looking for a good quailty CDRW for under $100.00. The cheaper the better!

I currently have a Plex 8/4/32 and its ran great the last few years. My only problem is sometimes it won't recongize my cds but it still works great.

I have seen recommended here Lite-On, as well as plex.

lite-on from newegg.com sub 60.00 for the 48x24x48 and it can be overclocked to 52 if you wish although it is nearly pointless to do so (4 seconds difference at max speed in burn time)

I agree with lagger. LiteOn 48x/24x/48x is the best buy.

Ditto.
I just got a liteon 48x24x48x with black faceplate

Amazingly fast and quiet, even on full spin.
And it burns at 48x, even thought the media is only 1-16x rated. 10x cd-rw disks go at 12x.
I need to find some proper 24x disks.

Additionally ive heard that the 48x24x48x is flashable to 52x24x52x and soon even 52x32x52x!
