So for starters thanks for reading. I have a bi-level house that has an unknown material in the floor that will not allow any wifi signal through the floor. My set-up is currently a Comcast d3 modem with a netgear wndr3400 router with a netgear wn2000rptv2 extender and I also have a moca connection for dishnetwork. We are able to get a signal downstairs with the extender but it is very unreliable (drops constantly). I have paid a couple so called "networking specialist" to tell me that I can't get wifi downstairs, thank you captain obvious that is why I called you. I have tried power line adapters with less success than the range extender. I am to the point where I am going to run a 100 ft Ethernet cable from upstairs (where the modem router and moca thing are) downstairs and try to go through that headache so I can set up a 2nd router but I would much rather use the existing coax to set up another router if that is possible. Please help my wife and kids would greatly appreciate the help and maybe I can keep from pulling my hair out. Thanks for reading. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe I am reading wrong... why can you not use moca type devices or does the dish network signal mess you ability to use them up. These are the devices commonly used for that purpose. You may have to isolate a coax run from your satellite, I know directtv system that uses single wire systems do not work with the moca on the line.

This is suppose to be a standard protocol so units from different manufactures should work but I have never done that. Pretty much they work similar to power line bridges you plug in ethernet on each end and it gets carried across.
