Wireless Internet doesn't work on desktop works on laptop??

I just bought a wireless router so me and my dad could surf the internet at the same time. We have satellite internet that comes into a little blue modem i then have a ethernet cable going from the modem into the new wireless router. Then another cable going from the wireless router to the desktop. The wifi works laptop and all our mobile devices but the desktop wont connect to the internet. If anyone can help solve this problem I'd be very thankful.

Does the desktop show the cable is connected?
Is the desktop set to use DHCP?

its connected and i have no idea if it is set up or not

Go into the network properties, choose TCP/IP properties, and make sure it is set to automatically obtain an IP address and DNS servers.
