My wonderful new 19" CRT for some reason moves the on-screen image of my games too far down and to the right. I end up playing Counterstrike or Quake III with part of the screen missing, kind of like if you adjust your screen dimensions and then change resolutions or refresh rates, and the new settings are just a little bit off. I can still play the games if I set the resolutions a little lower (at 1024x768 only a small part of the viewable area is off-screen), but it still looks bad and I want to be able to run these games at 1280x1024. I never had this problem with another monitor (this one is a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930SB). Any ideas on what this could be?

Have you tried manually adjusting the monitor's onscreen settings while the game is being displayed? Many high-quality monitors have user memory settings built-in, and will recall the correct display settings once the "normal" desktop is retrieved after the game is exited. And vice versa, when the game is again displayed ... even if the screen resolution is the same for both the regular desktop and the game.
