So brief history of what has happened to my laptop in the last month...
I had installed a clean installation of Fedora 17 wiping my Vista OS that had originally came with the laptop. I got tired of Fedora and did a clean install of Windows 7, requiring a wipe of my hard drives because Windows Installation didn't recognize my hard drive file type even though it never changed from NTFS. After updating and re-installing all of my drivers so my laptop would function the way it should everything is working great except for my wireless ability. My laptop is a Dell Studio 1550, Model: PP39L. I have not upgraded or changed any hardware on this computer
I still have networking capability via a wired connection, however in device manager, I have a problem with my network controller. I've installed several drivers from Dell with no results to cure the wireless or network controller problem. My network hardware is Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. I've also tried drivers from Realtek also with no results.
I've enabled, disabled my controllers, ran Windows "Fix it" Utility, Dell and Realtek automatic verification of my hardware and installed what was recommended, Windows Automatic Updates, Windows Troubleshooters, diagnosed my hardware, just about all that I can think of to correct the issue.
I know my computer's hardware is functioning correctly, this laptop is not old enough to have physical problems yet. I believe I just have to find the "magic" driver so Windows can recognize my wireless ability and run it properly.
So all in all, I'm sure that someone has either experienced this problem and effectively corrected it, or has been in the field long enough to know what needs to be done. Any help is very much appreciated.
