I'm still very seriously considering moving from my existing
Palm m515 to a Sony Clie TH55. With the help of various
posters here I have answers to all my questions regarding
the device itself and the software on it, so now I need to
turn my attention to the desktop.
I am currently running Palm Desktop 4.0.1. My ideal scenario
would be to convert across to the Sony with as little change
as possible to my PC setup, i.e. continue to use Palm Desktop
and the Palm hotsync components on my desktop. Is this possible?
If yes, then is it as simple as moving to a new Palm, i.e just
set the name of the Sony to my existing device name, plug
it in and hotsync it? If it isn't so straightforward, then what
is the minimum Sony stuff I need to install? Can I get away
with just replacing the lower level hotsync stuff that talks to
the Sony device but still use Palm Desktop to view my data?
I'm not planning to use Clie Organiser, I'll either stick with
the basic Palm stuff or else I'll use Agendus or similar.
I have a few more follow-up questions but the above will do
for now. I'm particularly interested in hearing from people
who have made such a move from a Palm device to a Sony
device and how smoothly that went.
