DirectX Compatibility Problems

Hey guys,
A few years ago I bought Max Payne 2 when it came out, and I played it fine on my old laptop. A few weeks ago I made a new PC with windows 7 and a few days ago I went to play Max Payne, but I couldn't. After researching a bit I found it was because Win7 is DX11 and Max Payne uses DX10. I was wondering if there was any way I could play this game on my PC, as I really want to play it because I'm getting MP3 soon, so I want to redo 2. Is there a way I can play DX10 games?

So if anyone has a solution, it would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Look on the Max Payne 2 for a game patch, update or other instructions how to run it on Windows 7.
  2. DX11 is a superset of DX10 meaning its backward competable. It will run on win7,
In face microsoft says so themself. I would think it would be more of a driver issue or reinstalling the game.

  4. Thanks WR2, I'll try it and get back to you. I have the latest update, but I have the game on disk, not through steam, I hate steam.

Zhihao, I have the RAdoen 2g 7850 OC with the latest drivers, I doubt that's the problem
