Sharing media files under Windows 7 to WD TV Live

Good morning everyone,

I've been using WD TV Live for 2 months now and sometimes it's working, sometimes it's not. Lately I completely lost my Windows Share in WD Live TV.

I have read and follow every possible tutorial to try to set up my LAN correctly but nothing is working. Only thing I want to do is share my videos, music and photos to my WD TV Live. I read it's a known problem on Windows 7 side... I'm willing to install any software if I have to like TVersity, PS3 Media Server, XBMC, I was even willing to format and install Linux Mint with MediaTomb. I saw also a new software, DIVX Plus software that is suppose to stream also.

So what I want is to share my media and transcode them on the fly ONLY IF NEEDED (WD TV Live can read pretty much everything so transcoding won't be used too much).

I'd like to know your thoughts on the best mix of OS, software, network settings or whatever I need to get this to work PERMANENTLY.

The router I use is a Linksys E4200V2, my connection is wired to my PC. All the other devices (XBOX, WD TV Live and 2 iphones) are wireless.

Strange thing also is that I see in the windows shares my router's name, even though I disabled the media server on it !

Hope you guys can help me !

Thank you

P.S. I'd prefer to stay on Windows 7 but if the very best solution is going to be on Linux i'm ok with that.
