I'm building a new machine to try and leave my system lock ups behind me and I cant seem to be able to locate any of the PC2100 512MB DDR's ANYWHERE! They only have 2 512 MB chips on the list and I cannot find them anywehre.. I would use 2 of the 256 mb's but I've read that using 2 sometimes causes problems..

Any clues?

I'm trying to find the :

SMART SM5646485D8N6CH DDR
or
Infineon HYS64D64020GU-7-A

Thanks in advance

just get <A HREF="http://www.crucial.com/store/listModule.asp?module=DDR+PC2100&cat=RAM&package=184-pin+DIMM&submit=Go" target="_new">Crucial</A>. If they don't work you can return them. They'll work, though.

yeah, lots of memory "works" heh but the machine I just built a couple months ago has major stability problems.. it reboots itself during some games. And the buzz is that memory quality has something to do with it (amog other things). So I'm wanting to build a machine that strictly complies with the amd recommended prodeucts.

Get Corsair Ram. (www.corsairmicro.com) It is the best memory money can buy. I am running it on my athlon 2100 and it runs fantastic. So Corsair should work perfectly for you.

I am sorry but reboots are strictly 99% Power Supply related. What is your PSU and your system's speccs?
Memory will have little to do usually, it will only be the memory when you get registry errors, memory leaks, memory faults or even memory sectors that cannot be read. Many other symptoms can occur but none I recall about rebooting.

well, my psu is 350 watt with 220 combined watts. so that shouldn't be an issue. I know of 1000's with this same problem and a majority of them have antec true power or enermax psu's.

Also, I noticed the XMS is not available in the PC2100 variety. :(

EDIT: Nevermind, I found the other XMS products heh

There seems to be plenty of PC2100 512 meg on Ebay including the Infineon HYB series ending -7.

Infineon HYS64D64020GU-7-A specs seem similar to the Infineon HYB series that you can pick up in any Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City, etc in PNY packages.
I run them ending -7 CL2 to 133 and CL2.5 to 143 with my P4 1.8a 100 and also P4 2.4 533 CPU. Rock solid with either XP or Win98.
PNY also packaged some PC2700 under the same UPC. Infineon ending -6 and Samsung ending TCB3. CL2 to 133 and CL2.5 to 166. I've run the PC2700 Gibratar stable at 375 for the last month.
All this memory was recently available below $40.00 with rebates of $20.00 to $30.00.

You can download the <A HREF="http://www.infineon.com/cmc_upload/documents/029/940/DRAMSpectrum.pdf" target="_new"> Infineon Data Sheet in PDF format </A>
