DVD writer standards...When are they coming?

im guessing it will end up like the zipdrive/superdisk

there should of been a standard for a bigger floppy disk but never was, although with cdrw being rather inexpensive i guess that dont matter anymore

I would hold my breath waiting for it. With all the entertainment industry screaming for ways to block copyrighted materials and every manufacturer trying to outdo the other in performance, none of them have really pushed for "Let's all do it this way". Most of the Recordable DVD players that I have sold are being used in industry specific apps. Home users could really get screwed if they set a standard that renders all current drives obsolete or won't play. (I'm done ranting now)
