These are selling new in unopened box for $250 right now, and every once in
a while you can find them on sale at $199.

I bought my v2 brand new from audioMIDI.com in the spring of 2003 for
$199. No problems so far. You might get lucky regardless on eBay.

Well, that is the nature of buying almost anything electronic these days
that has been maunfactured on an assembly line. The second you slit open the
box, its value decreases about 75%.
After checking, the prices have indeed gone back up for some reason. But
about two years ago, I did buy a Digigram VXPocket v2 on sale at JD Sound
for $199. Their regular selling price was $249. There were no problems with
the transaction, and I had the VX in my hands within the week.
