How essential is it to tidy up your case with ties etc? Mine looks a bit of a mess and I could do some bits easily but how do you clip IDE cables away? Its like a big 3d jigsaw. Is there a guide somewhere?
It improves airflow inside your case dramatically. But IDE cables are the most difficult ones... that's why some people buy rounded IDE cables.
I rounded my cables by folding them together and after that putting some tape around them, but this makes them very stiff. You can also cut the small wires apart in bundles of 5 and then fold them, however that is very much work and you risk damaging your cables.
My CPU runs so hot the arctic silver undergoes nuclear fusion .
If you have large numbers of flat wide IDE cables then it can impede airflow... i just find a tidier case much better to work with.
All unnecessary cables are tied away and its MUCH easier to work out what is connected to which cable. Its also alot less likely that a loose cable will get stuck in a fan or something equally bad.
