Right now I do not have any computer speakers, all I have is a reciever hooked up to 5.1 system. I have it hooked up with a y cable (Single output from card, then to a right and left to the receiver) I have a sound blaster PCI right now. Could I benefit any by getting a new sound card?
If you want to have 5.1 surround from your PC, an sound card upgrade would definately be in order. Since your using a 5.1 receiver, I would make sure has a free digital (coaxial) input. If it does, upgrade to a Audigy or Fortismo and take advantage of the digital out.
Thanks, I just learned about the coaxial part of my reciever, I never knew what it was... Hah, I make myself feel stupid sometimes. Anyways, where can I get the cheapest card, and should I trust non-creative cards? I heard other sound card manufactures have bad cards. Thanks!
The Hercules cards seem to be pretty good for a no-Creative alternative. Other than that I can't help ya. I don't look at the low-to-mid range cards all too often. As it is, I opted for pro-gear instead of a card for my newest system(s).
