I have installed Cadkey 97 on a win 7 os, it runs fine logged in as adminstrator, when logged as a user the program opens and quickly closes? Seems to be a permisison issue? Tried setting security to full ontrol on program folders, noting seems to work. any ideas? thank you

Solution
it probably makes .ini files in the windows, system and user directory and needs to access and/or modify them. when installing did it give you an option for all users, if it did you may have to reinstall it with that option ticked.

That did not work. It did work making the user an administrator but this is a student comptuer and we do not want the student user to be logged in as an adminsitrator. It seems like the program when opening needs to write to a system folder\file but do not know where it is writing to.

You have to decide whether it's cheaper to acquire an upgrade for that package (if available), or get WinXP license and install it into a virtual machine inside Win7 where you can install and use it. In case your Win7 is Pro version, WinXP license is included in the form of "XP Mode".

Yes, we have purchased Key Creator which is the update for Cadkey. We have this one instructor who insists on using Cadkey. thanks for your input.

Cadkey 97 is now working on Win 7, I uninstalled and reinstalled it, set security permissionns on program folders and files to everyone full control, also went into the registry and searched for Cadkey keys and set permissions to allow users acess to it.
It is now working, thanks for all your replies and help.
