WD or Maxtor

Win98 or Win98SE Maxtor

Personally I'm a Maxtor Fan with no problems with any of the drives I have, I'm not saying that Maxtor is better than Western Digital, I'm saying if you've invested in 5 Maxtor drives and gotten excellent service from them, you tend to stick with whats working for you.

Details, Details, Its all in the Details, If you need help, Don't leave out the Details.

Splendid
Western Digital doesn't make ATA133 drives only Maxtor.
I have a Maxtor 7200 ATA133 drive it decent. No problems!

Its a hard choice, go with best price WD with 8mb cache are good drives also.

I have both. Both are good.
1 80Gb Maxtor D740x and one 80Gb W.D. 800JB.

The 800JB is faster, thanx to its 8Mb cache, but more costly.
ATA133 is no faster than ata100. its mostly a marketing gimmic.

The 800Jb is also quieter, the D740X has scratchy and loud seeks.

My Idea of a DOS attack is to stop posting helpful information at Toms Hardware.

I am contantly hearing of ppl's maxtors dying. They are a really good company for end users though, rma'ing is not a problem. However WD seems to have regained their reputation (from before they were bought out ~6 years ago) and seem to have a more durable product.
