I'm trying to boot a PC (with a clean, formatted hard drive) that doesn't have any PS/2 ports with a USB keyboard and mouse. They are detected when turning on the computer, but the keyboard does not respond at any prompts. What is odd is that I am able to enter the BIOS by pressing F1, but after that it doesn't respond to anything I type on the keyboard. I have tried this keyboard on my Windows XP machine and it works fine. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

You can try to update BIOS.

That's the thing though, I can't even use the computer to attempt to update it because the keyboard doesn't do jack. There are also no serial ports to use, either.

Which mobo are you using? It could be that you have to set a jumper to enable USB keyboard support.

My CPU runs so hot the arctic silver undergoes nuclear fusion  .
