V3 with Nokia BT headset

I have been using this headset with all of my Nokia phones OK.
It also works with a V3 which I have been testing. The only problem is that
with the V3, when you switch off the headset on exiting the car, the phone
automatically tries to re-connect and when you get back to the car sometimes
after a few days, the headset has been on all of the time with the green
light flashing and battery almost dead.

Is there a setting on the phone to get it to act the same with the Motorola
as with the Nokia?
I have checked the phone and cant find a setting there other than auto vs
manual, I dont want to have to tell the phone each time to accept the
connection.

Any ideas?
