i just setup my machine (hd failure) and i went to xp because of the 9500pro. i have the cd-rw as master on ide3. the bios and the os recognizes the burner but every time i try and burn it gets to 10% and then stops. i have to end task to get out of it and then the drive doesn't work unless i reboot. i'm using nero 5.1 that came w/the drive. i was running the same setup in 2000 and it worked fine. any ideas?
thanks in advance.
ok, i've been doing some work on this. i just opened a new batch of memorex 48x and i've been using these cd's and each time it bombed on me but i then tried the cd that came w/the drive and it worked like a charm. my conclusion is the media that i'm using.
my question now is: does anyone know what type of cd's work best w/lite-on drives that i can get at my local comp usa or best buy? (btw tdk's don't work well
Edited by athalus on 12/18/02 08:48 PM.

eh?
i use stacks of tdk 700mb gold without problems on my 48x24x48x.
and what do you mean by master on IDE3?
u mean its on one of your raid channels?

I use the cheapest cdr I can find and no problems at all. They don't even have branding on them, just some no name thing that doesn't even have the spindle casing (that twist to open plastic thing).
They're rated 20x or so, but burner say it can do 48x. 43x is the most I got burning around 500 Mb, still don't have anything that would fill a 700 Mb cdr all the way.
Wife's ArtMedia 4x discs burn fine at 32x.
So far I'm not sure if there are any discs that my Lite-On doesn't like, or don't burn faster than it's rated. But you never know, maybe there are some brand names it hates (that I will never find out ).
