A friend of mine suggested I try out Musicmatch Jukebox because of it's nice visualizations. I install the program, enjoy the visuals, etc. Now, whenever I'd put a music cd into either of my drives, Musicmatch would open and auto-play it. I preferred Winamp, so I figured "...I'm not gonna use Jukebox anymore... I'll uninstall it".
After uninstalling, neither of my drives would auto-play anymore. This is a problem because my drives would never show up until I put a disk in and something auto played it, so I now have no means of using either of my drives. It's odd, my RW drive won't even open anymore. My DVD drive opens and spins a little bit, but it's not detected by any of my programs nor does it show up with my hard drive.
Any ideas on how I could fix this? Auto-play is what would make my drives show up in the past, but now... guh

I use a program called Xteq... amongst many other good things it allows me to turn on/off cd audio/cd data autostart.

Can this Xteq set the max. speed for cd-Rom drives?
I would like to set mine to run at 12x-16x max or so, so that it doesn't make so much noise, while still being fast enough.
No. I havnt seen that option available with Xteq. Xteq deals with all windows hidden settings. I have never seen something that lets you choose the cd speed.
