Belkin N300 Wireless Router

I am currently using a Belkin Basic wireless router. Works fine, but want to upgrade to an N300 wireless N router that I was given. Can't get it to work. Light stays amber. I have gone into setup and changed the ssid and password. I assume that there was a cd with the router, but I don't have it. What do I need to do?

I would reset it to defaults to start but depressing the reset button. Then check to see if there is any new firmware ( http://www.belkin.com/us/support-product?rnId=5853 ), if so, update it. Then set your network settings. If you didn't get one, also grab a pdf copy of the manual.

When it was given to you, any indication that it was not working?

It was working just fine when it was given to me. Will try what you suggested. Thanks.
