I just got a new WD100gig 7200rpm 2mb cache hd at comp usa for 89 dollars. 139-10 instant- 40 mail in rebate. offer ends tomarrow if anyone is interested. (READ THE REBATE CAREFULLY must be sent out by the 7th, and must be RECIEVED by the 14th. Which is why i sent it 2-day priority with signature acceptance.)

Ok its installed, it works find. but its slow.

I have an older 20 gig (probably 5200rpm not really sure).

I have my original 20 gig as the master and the new 100 gig as the slave.

It took one hour to transfer 13 gigs from my 20 to the new WD...should this be?? it seems AWEFULLY slow. I dont know much about the whole ATA100 stuff, maybe i dont have it enabled or something?

it just seems really really slow.

thanks for the help/advice.

If you have them installed on the same ribbon/cable it will slow it down big time, best to have them on a separate chanel/ribbon.
