Hi,
I'm new here and need some help. I have a V180 and just created some
ringtones from my mp3 files using 'Phone Tools'. I transfered the tones
to my phone and when I test them out in myMedia they work, BUT, when I
assign them to a phone number they do not play (just the preloaded
rings work).
Any ideas on what is going on.

I don't know specifically about the 180 but on my 551 in the audio
ring style menu there is a place to turn on and off "Ring IDs"

Its in the menu where you edit what happens when the phone is set to
Loud, Soft, Vibrate ...

I got a PDF copy of the User's Manual from Motorola's web site
http://tinyurl.com/8hr66 and I think I found the applicable setting.

Try this:

Ringer IDs
Activate distinctive ring alerts assigned to phonebook entries:

Menu key > Settings > Ring Styles > style Detail > Ringer IDs

Hope that helps

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I followed your advice and found
the ringer ID menu. It was already turned on, so I tried it on 'off',
then back again to 'on', but the ringtones I put on the phone won't
work as ringtones; they will play back when selected, but the phone
will revert to the 'default' ringtone if I assign these mp3 sounds to a
caller ID. Anyone got an idea? I see some messages about 'unlocking'
but I assume that if for the sim card and the service provider access.
Thanks again,
AL
