What type of charger is this? Is it the one that comes with the phone
that has the 1/2" plug at the end or is it something else that uses
the whole connector at the bottom of the phone?

I use the Motorola stand, into which the regular charger is plugged.
Tried it with my partner's V551 and it exhibits the same symptoms. No
biggie, just have to be aware that other ringtones get used. The reason I
was initially concerned is that I had an MP3 with a bit of "blue" language
on it, and it was the one that the phone arbitrarily selected ... could have
been bad in a sensitive situation :-)

When you put it on the charger it changes it to the "loud" setting I
believe. It's pretty much a standard Moto thing.

I tried to duplicate this and I could not get it to happen. I have
the charge stand that is round like the top section of a sphere,
bluish, has an analog clock in front, spare battery holder in the back
and plugs into the regular charger.
I called the phone and the default ring I have selected rang. I
programmed a ring ID to that number and the ring ID ringtone played.
I checked to see if insertion into the charger would switch ring
styles (loud, soft, vib...), it did not.
I have heard that the phone will switch to just a beep ringtone when a
bluetooth earpiece is used, That was my train of thought when I asked
what kind of charger you had. I don't think this is a typical
Motorola thing.
You don't have the "blue language" ringtone assigned to the number
your testing this with do you? I'm at a loss.
