I just got max payne and i can't run it on my comp. It says it doesn't have enough video memory. How is that possible at 640x480x16 everything on low detail?? I kno the v3 1k is old and slo but shouldn't 16mb be enough to run the game??

I don't think Max likes Glide or Voodoo.
Check the readme file.

cool.

There was a game readme.txt that i was reading one time, which said it didn't support voodoo anymore. I thought it was Maximum Pain; could have been Icewind Dale; my memory isn't all that good anymore.

Max payne just doesn't support the origional voodoo. Not the v3.

I played max payne from start to the end a couple of month ago with a voodoo3 3000 backed up by a athlon 700.the image was not perfect (sometime i could see trought walls)but it was playable. So i dont know what is wrong but it should be working even with the old voodoo.

Whoa! I didn't even remember posting this... and then I had to check the link in the email. Anyways, i'm fine now. I'm running a GF3 origional on a Tbird 1.1ghz. So, it's all good...

I miss my ATI Radeon 64mb ViVo SE :frown:

And that's about what it takes, too.

1.2ghz would give you a little breathing room on the audio and physics.

But Unreal Tournament and Diablo2 will R00x0r with that V3 card.

I ran Max Payne on a V3 2000. It ran fine. Some texture errors, but it ran very smoothly.

that bug 8cough* feature on the voodoo 3 was one of the most helpful things in Serious Sam for me.. let me find all of the "Secret items"

ahhh the good old voodoo 3... I miss mine dearly, I have a geforce 3 nowadays but I still wish my voodoo 3 worked, I got quite an overclock out of that thing with a copper heatsink epoxied on it and ramsinks too, I gave her a voltage mod and she did even higher. Treat your card with respect she is quite a lady, and was made by the legendary 3dfx. I still cry when I remember that tragic day when I went to their sight for new drivers and oh it hurts too much to talk about it! Just remember your card can kick some serious ass if you treat it right

I miss my old Voodoo 3 3000. It's surprising how many people are still a little bitter about Nvidia buying out 3dfx.

I still have my Voodoo 3 3000 in the other computer. I can't imagine playing max payne or serious sam on it though. Serious sam had a fit when I tried to play it on there.

Anyone gaming really shouldn't be using that card. I used to think it was great until I saw what my games looked like with a new video card.

3dfx was going out of bussiness anyway, the only way to salvage anything was to sell their technology. This is why I buy nvidia cards rather than ati, cause they are all that is left of the glorious empire that was 3dfx
