Hello,

My new asus fails to connect to my wireless modem. It is within range. The wireless is detected however fails to allow connection. Manual set up with password also fails. Tried it over 12 times over several days. Connects immediately to an unprotected network next door. Is there something simple I am missing?

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

It could be a simple matter of misunderstanding the WEP key. Keys are made of hexadecimal characters and so there is no confusion between an i and L or O and zero, the only characters in use are a to f and numbers 0 to 9. It will also be case sensitive.

It's also better to secure the system with a stronger WPA or WPA2 security key but everything you need to know about how to find or change your security key - is in our Sticky Post on the subject and here is a link to it. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/38111-18-find-change-wireless-security
