Hello,
am trying to install W7Pro/oem on a machine that has only had Debian Linux on it, and was a one off I made with an MSI K9MGM (-MS72/52) motherboard, 6GB ram, a Samsung sata drive, LG DVD drive ,a 3.5 floppy and extra ports for USB 2 interfaces, 1394, sound etc.. (No additional PCI video card - using on board nvidia chipset). Ran well with this config. under Debian (ah yes - don't they all) but on trying to install an oem W7 Pro as a clean install, was halted after the loading files, "Starting Windows" with the following message:
STOP: c000021a Fata System Error. The initial session process or system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0x00000001 0x001003f0). The system has been shut down.

Several attempts later - including a clearing out of the master boot record and still the same. Thought about the memory config. - but it works under Debian. Hence at present score is Debian 1 Microsoft 0.

Anybody out there with a clue? Help most gratefully received

Hi Nikorr,

Thanks for your reply. Info (as best as I recall) as follows:

PSU is a Casecom ATX 500W, Memory is DDR2 - 2x1GB "Value Select", and 2x2GB "Crucial" - can't be certain of voltage - probably 1.8v. CPU is an AMD Athlon 64 socket 2 - standard clocking and has never been overclocked.

System failure message bit of a puzzle all around - I haven't yet started taking the RAM modules out to check on compatibility, - belief that if it works under Debian, it should work under MSW7. Does this additional info give you any clues?

Fingers crossed.
