I have 1gb of DDR2700 (333mhz) ram fitted into a Gigabyte GA-7VA motherboard. My processor is a AMD 2400 and the FSB is 266mhz. Thus far i've been able to use the ram in my system by forcing within the bios, the DRAM type to be 266mhz DDR. My system seems stable enough but, I was wondering if this is safe? I'm a novice so any advice is welcome.
P.S my machine is really jerky (when playing games) now that I have more than 256mb of ram. Any idea why - i'm running win XP pro?

do not worry about running DDR333 ram at DDR266. this is in no way unsafe, you're simply not using the ram to its full potential.

not dangerous at all, you would only see problems if you were trying to run the memory too high a setting... to set memory properly (assuming you board is a KT333 or higher) the settings are in the BIOS... change the memory bus speed to 333mhz, save, reboot (0& pray ;-) )

is it summer already ??? oh, its just the heat haze coming off my PC...
Edited by marneus on 01/03/03 01:27 PM.
