I'm trying to sell this beast again, but I've got the family talked into
letting me set on it if it doesn't sell this time. It looks cool in the
studio and it's loud as hades.... just enough to cover the self-noise.
Yikes! I've been playing guitar since about when that thing was made
& I've never seen one of those before. Just looking at it is kind of
painful. It's in great shape but I dunno about that price tag.

That's 4 listings in 18 months. The first listing drew over 1000 hits and a couple
of dozen questions. The second two approached 500 views each, and this one,
right at 300 views with only 7 watchers and two questions.
Wrong time of year maybe... but I'm 99% certain that there were less than 3000
of these units made in 1970 & 71, and I think they are eventually going to be worth
more than folks realize. Now that I've got almost $90 in listing fees, I'll wait a
while to try the e-Bay route again.

Yup, could be... everyone's spending money on presents!

Not sure, you could be right - I don't recall ever seeing a lot of them -
mauybe 1 or 2 personally.

It all depends how much people want them, David - if you've got a rare bird
of ANY ilk, it could be worth 2 cents or two million $, you know that, i'm
sure.

Try finding some private collectors... its prolly worth more as a collectors
item than a practical amp. or maybe list it under a different e-bay
category!
I think your estimate of it's value is pretty unrealistic.
Why not try to consign it with someone who is a vintage amp dealer,
they could probably find the right customer for it.

These early solid state gibson amps are pretty awful sounding compared to
the "real" LP amp: the GA40 made in the late 50s/early 60s. They're just not
worth nearly as much as their earlier tube counterparts. Gonna be a hard
sell, imo.

Probalby the same subset of the thousand every time.
