I'm thinking of getting a chieftec case that has space for 4 fans (2 front/2 back) and I'm not sure how many I should bother adding, or where. I'm not an overclocker, btw. My initial thought is one in front and one in back. Should I bother getting particular fans, or go with the cheaper enermax UC-001B-TC or UC-8FAB fans? One more thing - the desk that holds my computer has one of those compartments for the case under the main desk. The back is open and there's a door on the front. Is this a resonable place for a system with the door shut/open?
from what I've learned on thg, it's better to have a fan in the back than front, so get two, try one in front and one in back, then try both in back in see which result it better. and try to avoid having the hot exhaust recycled into that compartment if you can.

Also, how the heck to I post something other than a reply, I can't see where I do that!
Edited by UDHA on 01/06/03 07:18 AM.

I have Antec 1030SX. It also have space for 2 fans in the front and 2 fans in the back. Antec only installed 2 fans in the case both are installed at the back.
It really depends on how fast/noisy the fans are, and what you are prepared to put up with.
I suggest running the sysem with just two slow speed rear casefans. For a non overclocked system thats though be quite sufficient.
I have an black superflower/atlas case which has room for 6 80mm casefans.
The fans supplied with the care are nice and quiet, so at the moment im only running 3, with an overclocked system, with excellent results.
The fan hols are located 2 frontbottom, 1 side, 1 top and 2 rear, and only the 2rear and 1 top have fans pushing air out.
Air flows freely in the front and side.

PS. if you are looking for super quiet but decent airflow casefans the best i have found bar none are the 24cfm, 21dBa 2000rpm Panaflo's.
