Windows Update problem (XP)

Hi there.
Three days ago I installed Win XP Pro in my Laptop.
I'm having some problems with the Win Update.
Initially I take that ungly message about lowering the security level... I did that but no improvement.
Then I tried downloading the updates one a time and it did give me better results.
But there are some updates that will just not download! The failed to download - Windows say.
I then tried the Download basket. Some updates were downloaded there and then installed succesfully manualy by me. But not all. 2-3 updates, like one for the MSN Messenger simply fails to download!
Am I the only one who has this problem?
I mean I have finally succeeded to download all the updates except these 2-3 (which are not security updates, but software patches...).
Any help appreciated.

FYI: Windows Update can be really buggy. An alternative is the page of OS Updates at 3DSpotlight. They keep it updated to links of the patches whenever they come out. I would also give the link to the Corporate Windows Updates, but I can't find it at the moment.

Well actually what you gave me is an index of all the updates, that are hosted on the Microsoft servers, and thanx for that.
BUT: What I need is these updates hosted on a mirror site so that I will be able to download them and try to install them manually ;)

I'm aware of that. But, I doubt you'll be able to find a mirror of Windows Updates. That's the best I can do. If there was a mirror, they would have a hard time keeping up with all the patches Microsoft must release, since there are so many...

I was just suggesting that you can go to the page I suggested. Download the patches from the Microsoft pages manually, save them to your hard drive & burn to a CDR, and patch your system from those files.

Sorry if this wasn't what you wanted to hear, but I'm not sure if there are any alternatives.
