Heard a Rumor that the Motorola MPx220 was coming back to Cingular in June?

Anyone else hear about it?

Thanks,

I have just joined the Motorola newsgroup to pose a couple of questions
concerning the MPx220, and I see this is intriguing post. Is Cingular not
now selling the MPx220? If so, I can guess the reason. (Perhaps I'll see
comment on this when I read the other posts.) I went to my local Cingular
office just today and was told that they do carry the MPx220, but are out of
stock. I bought an MPx220 in January when AT&T merged with Cingular. (I was
an AT&T user.) By March, the MPx220 had died three times when I had plenty
of battery power left. After communicating with Motorola and trying to sort
out the problem, they agreed to send a new phone. This was in early April. I
used the phone with great success in France and England in April-May,
receiving better reception there than in California. In the last three days,
the new phone has died twice. This was the chief problem with the first
phone. I can revive it by removing the battery and replacing it. But this
won't do. I rely on my mobile phone and can't check my phone every minute to
be sure it is functioning. It seems that there is a design flaw with the
battery contacts. Has anyone else had this problem? Or any other problem
with the MPx220?

I'm going to contact Motorola to talk about the problem. If they have
corrected the problem, I may be content with a new MPx220. I really like the
phone when it is working, but I cannot tolerate a phone that is not
reliable. If Motorola cannot convince me that they have fixed the problem, I
will ask for another phone. I wonder whether the Razr V3 is more reliable.
If I read the specs correctly, it does not have the capability to coordinate
with Outlook, nor does the camera appear as advanced. It does have Bluetooth
and GSM and quad band, which are more important to me than internet
capability.

I would appreciate any comment, particularly from those who have had
experience with the MPx220 or Razr Vs. I would appreciate an email reply as
well as a posting here. Many thanks.
(I'm going to make an original post on this subject, just to be sure I don't
miss the opportunity for comment from any who don't read the replies to this
post. Sorry for the duplication.)

Harlan

Its been kind of an on-again off again saga... They merged with it, sold it
themselves [Cingular] and then discontinued it, and not have it back on the
Coming Soon list.

You can get them from places that have left over stock, though I believe
most are the original Versions. I've hear many complaints about the
batteries and not keeping contact, though no word about if its an issue that
will be fixed. I've seen a post or two about people putting paper in the
patter compartment to help with the issue.

I know there was also some Bluetooth issues with it. Those were supposed to
be fixed with the latest firmware.

Other then that, I'm not sure what's going on... A post from the Cingular
Newsgroup said that the rep they contacted said June/July for the new
re-release.

Motorola's website for the phone has changed a bit too.
