I have a question for Sennheiser HD 25 sp users.
I'm ready to buy a pair mostly for DJ use.
Is it possible to remove the one aircup from the headband ?
I'd like to use them like single sided phones and keep the other cup as a
backup ...
P.S. i know the cable is detachable, i'm asking for the cups.

If it is anything else i should know about that,
please drop a few words.

Thanks agan Karl.
Have you tried both HD25 sp and HD 280 ? or better the HD 270
(I own the HD 270 and i know how the HD 280 sounds)
If so how do they compare to sound / loudness.
I need a less "bassy" pair than the HD 270's

Then, you'll like the HS25's. I have been using them for many years and
love them. They're definitely less bassy and more true (to my ears) than
many others. Anyway, good luck!

We're talking about hd 25 SP, right ?
The only think concern me now is if they can go loud enough, (for dj use but
not in very -loud- clubs)
because sensitivity is about 100db and impedance is 85 Ohm.
(The -full- 25's are much better to this aspect 120db / 70 Ohm)
How do they (25 sp) compare to others (hd 270 / 280 etc) ?

Yeah, I have the HD25SP. Haven't ever used the other HD's though...so
couldn't tell ya about how they compare to those. Other similar headsets
would be the Sony-7506. Those are pretty popular headphones as well. For
DJ use, I usually recommend the AKG-240M. Have you tried those?

It happens to own a pair of AKG 240M,
No i think they are not designed for dj use, for many reasons.
(very low sensitivity, big aircups, semi-open -not- closed design... etc)

A lot of DJ's (at least that I'vet met) like the semi-open design, as it
allows for more bass. In my experience in pro audio retail though, Dj's buy
the KM240s like they're water. I'm not a DJ, so I can't say one way or
another. To each his own.
Maybe you would the AKG-K271 better? They're a closed design. Have you
thought about looking into headphones by actual DJ gear manufacturers? Like
maybe, NumarK? They have a model with only 1 side too...the D100 or
something like that. Anyway, best of luck...let us know what ends up
working for you.

Personally I don't know how anybody can stand using Sennheisers in a
studio. They're built like cheap plastic toys and all it takes is one
screwup and they break.
I bought a pair of HD500's and the sound was so bad I thought they were
defective. I got them replaced and the new ones sounded just as bad.
Sennheiser tech support was useless and took over a month just to get a
reply.
I'll stick with my Koss headphones. Built like a tank and twice as
comfortable as Sennheisers. The bass is solid and punchy and the highs
are clear with great seperation.
