Yes but its a pain to do it. You can't just install it like normal unless its an esata drive. On USB there is a lot of tweaking required. http://www.ehow.com/how_4853554_install-xp-external-hard-drive.html I would just use virtualbox to run xp. Its easier to set up, and free.
