My Cisco Linksys model: WRT16ON

I have lost internet connection on my laptop. I still have it on my desktop, from where I am transmitting this info.
The lady from Cisco over the phone told me I need to reconfigure the wireless connection on my laptop. It is not a hardware issue she said.
However, since my warranty period has expired on JUly 25, 2010, she could (would) not help me. But she gave me this site address.
I am not an expert, so I am seeking your step by step guidance on the procedure whereby I could accomplish this myself.
