i've got a strange prob.
i can run my machine for a period of time - anything from 10mins to a day and then it will freeze solid - no blue screen or gpf, just locked cursor. if i reboot at this point (soft or hard) i get a no screen - the monitor gives a no signal light. but the machine gives a power light+i can hear the discs spinning up.
sometimes i get a post code, which means no sdram installed, but not always.
i've tried taking the lid off and running a house fan though+i've tried reseating everything.
my machine:
Athlon XP 1600
Jetway 867as mobo
256MB SDRAM
10GB HDD
32MB GEFORCE II MX/200
SB128 Soundcard
latest bios, drivers+winxp pro (same probs with win2k+98 thou)
it used to work fine!!!
any ideas?

don't know - i've had everything out and blown a house fan though so it should't be overheating. i've had the system for 4 months, if it was getting too hot i'd have thought it'd have done this from day 1.
my suspicions are either the memory, or video card. sound possible?
i can't do much about it for a little while - the machine's in the UK and i'm in asia!!!

yes, i think your memory is damaged.

sometimes there is a bad contact between the memory stick & the memory slot.
maybe you can try to unplug then plug again the stick.
you can also check the bios settings.
but the best way is to try another memory stick.
