hello, after looking at the Alienware media center pc, i was wondering if you could switch out the tuner card and the nvidia card and put in the ati 9700 all in wonder, and still have the box work? The nvidia card does not support HDTV and has no component video outputs. I wonder if the software(media center) would work with new hardware installed?...any ideas?

Yes, you can switch cards. Get a 9700 AIW.

If you are going to get a pre-built system, go for a Falcon Northwest. http://falcon-nw.com

You will get a stable, fast, and great customer support.

Media Center is basically a "theme" package with fonts and menus that are easy to use with your fuzzy TV. I have a copy of it somewhere, never bothered to install it. If you have XP the Media Center add-on is only like 35MB.

I created my own HTPC. The windows software looked whimpy so I designed my own interface for a Shuttle SB51G using DesktopX. Works and looks better than the Windows version and it's customized to my needs.
