Hey guys

I recently bought a 100GB hard drive and was pondering on the different sizes of parititons I should do?

Asking some people on iRC they suggested,

100GB, 1 partition
20GB, 80GB, 2 partition
20GB, 30GB, 50GB, 3 partititons

Whatcha all think? I read some where the more partitions you do the more space you loose, when I did a 20, 30, 50 partition, I ended up with 20, 30, 45, were the actuall numbers.. anyway thanks guys! =D

Heh. dont ask us. Ask yourself!
1. What Type of format will you want? NTFS or FAT32/ (if you want fat32 its best to keep partitions to 32Gb in size)

2. What are you going to do with the drive? Are you a neatness freak? Do multiple users need their own partitions?

Usually people have a small 5-10Gb windows partition, then varying games, mp3, porn, divx, movies partitions depending on taste.

i think this is a good setup:

10gig OS
30gig games
30gig mp3 & movies
30gig pr0n

or maybe

10gig OS
30gig games
60gig mp3, movies & pr0n.

P.S. And i prefer NTFS as its more robust, can do large partitions easily and handle files over 4Gb in size

I think poobaa's second choice is much better. I have 2 drives, 180GB (120GB + 60GB) in all.

Currently set up as
disk 1:
20GB Windows XP + Windows Programs
10GB Linux
60GB Movies, mp3
30GB Misc

disk 2:
60GB Backup of Important progs and files
