NO SOUND on Toshiba Video Player?????????

Hello,
my names kate and I was going to watch Life of Pi today. The DVD played but, no sound. I went onto YouTube to see if the sound would work on there. Yes. the sound did work. I really like to watch film son my laptop. The player i am using is Toshiba video player. I would like this fixed but if you give me any there video players I would like them to be free. Thanks.
