It actually doesn't look too bad (last famous words). Seems they've
addressed all the major gripes from the first one...

You mean like 'no operator assistance required' ;)

I hope it is good for those who are interested.

That was the best bit of the game! What's the point of repeatedly hitting
the mouse? Much better to set the parameters then sit back and watch the
action. If they remove that as an option I probably won't buy.

I agree! I prefered the automatic combat. Hopefully they will make it an
option to work either way. If I have to micromanage everybody this time, I
won't buy either...

Read the preview in total - they're changing it to make you focus on the
main character (which you can switch) while improving AI & independence of
the other chars, kinda like Fallout1/2 it sounds to me (fingers crossed).

Oh yeah, like Fallout had such great AI for the secondary characters. ;)

Fallout was awful in that regard. DS2 seems to be heading in the right
direction. At least their design seems sound and it'd be up to the
implementation. The party AI options include, hold-ground, defend
(only attack those who are attacking the party), rampage and mirror
(follow the main-character's target... useful in a boss fight).
Spellcasters can be set to auto-cast with varying degree of threshold
for the triggering event.

There is more party banter and a lot more focus on characters and
dialogues.

Skill progression system has now been expanded into something similar
to Diablo2 with lots of branches and options.

May actually be a decent game this time around.

That's what I meant. ;)

Or Marcus in Fallout 2.

"Find Marcus, stay behind me. I'm sure you'll be careful with that
Minigun of yours..."

Harsh bastard. ;-p

Intelligence! ;-)
