I am currently in the market for a flat panel, but I need the advice of some people who know what they are talking about. Below is a link to tigerdirect 17" flat panels (just for reference).

I currently own a beast of a 19" CRT. I live 3 hours from home in my dorm room and getting this thing there and back sucks. I think it weighs about 400 pounds.

I NEED a flat panel. Since reading THG's latest monitor lineup (where they said responce time and contrast does not matter), I have no clue what to get. Yes, I play games and would enjoy something with little to no ghosting in the 17" area. Brands do not matter to me, as long as the monitor is good. I don't want a mirror.

Does anyone have any personal experience / advice when shopping for a new flat panel?

Oh, I would also not like to spend much more than $500. Thanks!

Look around this message board. This topic has been discussed so many time you'll get people few people to respond to this question. There are some decent 17" monitors out now.
