Will a 5.0 wireless usb adapter upconvert 2.4?

if a game console has a 2.4 wireless signal, will the adapter unconvert to 5.0 if the router supports it?

not sure what you mean by unconvert, but if you are asking if a 2.4GHz can use or be upgraded to work with a 5.0GHZ signal, the answer is NO.

if the router is configured to only use the 5.0GHZ bandwidth, your console will not be able to connect

sorry for the typo.....the question should have been, if I plug the 2.4/5.0 adapter into the usb port, will it broadcast on both bands, if I choose to use 5.0 band? I'm considering a dual band router with the appropriate dual band usb interface, such as the cisco/linksys Linksys EA4500-RM.

when setting up the router make sure to name the SSIDs so you are able to distinguish be tween the 2.4 and the 5.0

this way you can decide which one to connect to
