this may be a simple question, but how can i change/assign drive letters on a partitioned hd prior to installing the os? i partitioned a secondary drive the other day:
i inserted an empty partition at the beginning (for os), switched jumpers to make it a master, plugged it in as the only drive, and began winxp installation.
the 2nd partition (with stuff on it) was assigned C: and the 1st partition (empty) was assigned D:. this isn't the first time this has happened to me...and i dont want to delete the 2nd partition and lose the info.
i know about disk management...but i don't think you can change the assigned drive letter of the installed os...so is there a way to do this before installation?
thankx

"to start press any key..."
where's the ANY key?

Use FDisk (or similar software) to make the 1st partition active (it has to be Primary), then install WinXP. It will be recognized as C:

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.
