Hello,
I have Christmas gifts for kids, Dell optiplex GX 740 desktops. I see it has gigabit ethernet, I have wirless capability in our home already for laptops phones etc. What do I need to do if anything to make these desktops connect wirelessly to the internet using the service and equipmemnt we already have?? I am lost!!

Unless your new computers have wireless capability then you will have to but some wireless adapters and the choices are to get a USB one or a Pci-e slot card. Since you have desktops you can go with either and the Pci-e option will give the better connection but requires opening up the computer and installing a wireless card in a Pci-e slot. The USB is much easier and you just plug it in and load drivers.

There are a variety of each type with a price to match your budget, here are a couple to give you an idea of what to look for.

good choices of NICs; however, he needs a PCI or PCIe with Low Profile bracket
