does anyone know about cd/dvd players on computers mine quite working yesterday i got a gatway 2000 with windows xp i cant play anything not matter what i insert in to d drive its a mashitta dvd rom sr 8582 what does the roll back driver do

Does it refuse to play both dvd's and cd's?
It could be a corrupted driver, where the driver rollback may work, as would deleting the drive from the hardware profile and reinstalling it.

You could also try cleaning the optics with a cd-cleaning kit.

If nothing works, it may be that the drive has died.
