Newbie: First experiences of my new Tungsten T3 (and first ever Handlheld)
Impressed by what there is. Disappointed that the s/w apps don't cover the
whole screen.

Tell me somebody, is there a way of organising apps better? Can I move apps
between folders? Sometimes the games don't get put into the Games
category/(folder) etc.

Isn't there a Windows-type Explorer to see folders and files more easily
(and arrange them)? And also the system font chould be reduced a bit and the
icons made smaller so you can see more in one go. How can I do that ?

Sometimes I see that new apps have been transferred to the Palm during a
synch, but when I look for them in the Palm, they are not there - anywhere.
The apps with which this happened were small scientific calculator apps all
from the same site.

Btw, I already managed to hang it. In the middle of a a sync a message came
up on teh screen saying FATAL ERROR - WAIT FOR RESET. The reset never came.
I have just put in a day and half into buying/downloading s/w - for the
present I want to give today
so I was a bit shocked. So with a bit of a thumping heart I opened the
online manual and learned how to do a soft reset.

It worked, thank G'.

I noticed that the USB connection had been lost. When I took the T3 out of
the cradle to do the soft reset, and then put it back, my PC (Win 2000)
notified me of new hardware and identified just a 'USB device'. When I took
the T3 out again, the USB device went away.

Would it be a good idea for me to first do a reinstall of my PC software?

Btw, there seem to be have been no compatibility problems with software
written ages ago for older Palms.

tia for reading and answering.

Avraham.

This type of question signals that you need to read the manual...
Press the "Home" button in the status bar.
Press the "Menu" button (3rd from left) in the status bar.
A menu appears and you should select "Category".
A list of applications with a category for each appears.
Scroll to the application you want to move, and select the category.
You will get a list of categories you may "move" the application to.

No, there is no built-in "Explorer". In the menu in my answer above,
you have other choices for what to do with your applications/files.

Smaller icons can be had by pressing "Home", "Menu", "Options",
"Preferences". Select "View By: Icon" and choose "List" instead.

Have you looked in the "Unfiled" category? When in the "Home" screen,
the category is shown as the rightmost word on the topmost line. Select
this word and you will get a list of categories, including "Unfiled".
If you don't find your calculators there or in any other category, you
should check your memory card contents if you have one.

Did it come back when you put it in again? Is there now a connection
between you PC and Palm?

Why? You might download the latest Palm Desktop and Hotsync from PalmOne.
You should also install the T3 update from PalmOne.
There is a WebPro update. Check if you need it.
There are also other updates on PalmOne.

Your "FATAL ERROR" might have been caused by third party software.
