I just had road runner installed and for the most part love it .. but.. they used a pretty cheap assed nic card for it .. an SMC EZ card 10 pci card .. I am using a d-link 704 router to network 2 systems at this point from the cable modem (Toshiba pcx 1100u) any advantage to upgrading the card ?? is it difficult to uninstall a nic card (dont want a bunch of can't find blah blah messages) what card is the fastest ?? my goal is to reduce ping lags as much as possible as they screw up my online gaming. Any input and \ or opinions are appreciated

The cable modem is the bottleneck change NIC will not help. It is easy to intall NIC and I have 3com on my computers and they work great.

I agree, you aren't going to see much (if any) improvement by upgrading your NIC. I would just stick with what you have.
