Router security help

Last night I changed a friends unsecured router to wpa2-personal as she requested me too, a compaq laptop and a cisco linksys router i believe. After adding the password I was unable to connect to the router from the laptop. Kept saying network setting on computer dont match the network settings for the router or something like that??? Through many attempts i was unsuccessful in connecting to the router with the laptop, but my friend was able to hop on it via her iphone. please help me.

I would reset the router and do a fresh setup.
