Recommended budget active monitors?

I'm trying to shortlist the best rated sub £250 (seemingly equivalent to
$400 worth of American speakers) active monitors before inflicting my
indecision on an unsuspecting music shop.

I've heard mostly good (and some bad) things about all of the following:

Alesis M1 MkII (£225)
Behringer 2031A (£220)
Event TR5 (£240)
Fostex PM0.5 (£200)
Samson Resolve 65A (£200)
Wharfedale Diamond Pro 8.2 Active (£250)

I have a small room (8.5' x 8' x 8') and am forced to wall mount the
monitors as I am sitting in front of a nice, big, reflective, fitted desk.
With the right brackets, I should be able to get them at least 6'' off the
wall.

I will be mixing mostly techno but also some acoustic guitar, percussion
etc.

The more power they've got in reserve the better.

I appreciate that what sounds good is very subjective so I suppose I'm
looking for advice on the technical merits of the monitors above and any
obvious contenders I have missed.

I'd second the Yorkville's. Picked them up originally to hook up to a
P200 and outboard synth module (handle the dynamics well); found later
that they are quite good active monitors for a budget DAW system.
Check them out.

I've heard only very positive things about the Yorkville's. There doesn't
seem to be many people in the UK that sell them. I've just spoken to their
UK distributor and they say they're having trouble convincing anyone to
stock them! They are getting a small shipment in the middle of February but
the price is coming out at £349 (Inc. VAT).

Unfortunately this is breaking my meagre budget and then some.

yes V series for rock

i have KRK V6 for rock and simular
and KRK RP8 for dance

all conected to E-mu 1820m

working exelend

only for the moment i miss sub specialy with V6

but will happen soon...:-)

Cheers for the recommendations.

I'm now ruling out anything with a 5'' woofer. 6.5'' seems the way to go.
Anything that narrows my search.

I've heard the Alesis M1 MkII are too bassy but I'm still not totally turned
off of them - they seem to be very popular.
Some people I've spoken to like the Behringers but more people are adamant I
should totally disregard them.
The Samson Resolve 65A have had a luke warm reception.
Not many people have heard the Wharfedales and those that have are telling
me they sound more 'hi-fi' than studio.
No one has said anything bad or too amazing about the Events.
The KRK RP5 is a bit small and the RP6 is a bit pricey.
The monitors that have been most recommended are the Fostex ones. They have
5'' woofers and the PM1 (with 6.5'') are too pricey for me.

It's a shame I can't get the Yorkvilles and that something doesn't stand out
like they seem to in my price range.

I'm going go and listen to a few on Thursday.

I've never tried the Event TR5, but I had a pair of 20/20s for awhile. I
found them fatiguing to listen to at nearfield distances. I replaced them
with a pair of Tannoy Reveals and am much happier.

What does this mean? That Scott Fraser shouldn't mix on KEF's or
whatever other hi-fi speakers he uses to do great work? Don't let
comments like that keep you from giving a listen.
