I am using the free Audacity software to make a recording of my wife
playing quitar and singing. when I mike her voice and the guitar, go
thru a small Behringer mixer, out the Tape Out into a Turtle Beach sound
card, it comes out fine.

Problem is , I want to record the two things separately. I record the
quitar playing first, fine. But when I go to try to add another track
of hersinging, I want to hear the first track being played back. But I
can't figure out how to do that. I Open the project, it shows the track
already recorded, if I click Record it will show it is recording the
additional track, but I don't hear the first track playing.

Is it Audacity or is it me ?

Thanks,
Glenn

It's you.

There's a setting in Audacity under File->:Preferences that says "Play
other tracks while recording new one" that needs to be checked.
